Single Sign On

Log on once to access common web-based software

Edtech’s Single Sign-On (SSO) Service simplifies the process of logging on to multiple web based services. Using our Identity Portal, you log on just once using your network user name and password and then have seamless access to all of your web-based applications. The applications communicate directly with the SSO server to verify your identity and do not require you to re-enter your user credentials.

Based on best-practice single sign on technology, Edtech has developed its SSO service in close consultation with the Ministry of Education. The key driver for this initiative is removing barriers to the adoption of hosted web applications and richer solutions that are tailored to the individual. The SSO service is a recognition from Edtech and the Ministry that simplicity and ease of use for the end user must be maintained in an increasingly rich and complex ICT environment.

Software applications supported
Applications suported include Ultranet, Google Apps, Mahara e-Portfolio, Wiki Educator, Access-it, Koha Library, Plumi and others. The Ministry of Education is actively working with software vendors to increase the number of supported services. Benefits for teachers and students—and IT staff
For teachers and students, Edtech’s SSO service provides convenience – users need only remember one username and password for access to a range of common applications. For your schools’ IT staff, SSO means added security – fewer logins means usernames and passwords on sticky notes or taped to monitors will become a thing of the past and will ultimately mean your schools’ data is more secure.

Ministry funding available
The Ministry of Education is subsidising the setup costs for schools who implement the Edtech SSO service. Monthly subscription fees are based on school roll size. The funding to cover setup costs is only available for a limited time, so contact us quickly to take advantage of this offer.
