Safe and secure protection of your most critical data

Edtech can now offer your school a sophisticated set-and-forget cloud based backup solution which automatically transfers important data from your school computers to off-site, state-of-the-art storage facilities. This service is not intended to replace your on-site backup but gives you peace of mind that your most important information is always secure. In addition, should your school site become inaccessible this data can be accessed from a remote location.

What is Cloud Based Storage?

Backup software is installed onto your school’s server which automatically transfers predetermined files (or directories) over an internet connection to a secure data centre in New Zealand where it is stored should you need it. To ensure that your data is absolutely safe should a natural disaster strike, it is replicated to another data centre in a different geographical location within New Zealand. Usually the backup process is set to happen at night when your internet connection is not being used. Should you lose data it is a quick and simple process to retrieve it from the data centre and move it back to its original location.

What plans are available?

Edtech has plans starting from as little as $20 per month for 5GB of storage space. Often this is more than adequate for your essential Student Management System, Learning Management System, financial , school and Board of Trustees data. If you would like to back up more, then we have a wide range of plans all the way up to over 150GB. Also, if you exceed your data cap in a month by more than 20% we will notify you and you can move up to the next plan.

Standard or Enhanced Service
The standard service replaces your stored data at the end of each month with an updated copy. Edtech also offers an enhanced service to extend the time that copies of your data are stored.
The enhanced service stores a separate copy of each month’s data for up to 15 consecutive months. This means that you can restore data from any month end rollover for up to 15 months.

Email Notifications
The backup software can be configured to send you a daily email to confirm that your backup was successful. Alternatively it can be setup to inform you only when a backup has failed. In any case Edtech is always automatically contacted should a problem occur.
