Timetable Suite Seminars

Great opportunity for all timetablers to get together & share ideas

Schools will soon be planning their 2011 timetable. A number of schools will be inviting staff to take on this job, either to help the existing group or to replace them. Our MUSAC timetabling seminars in Auckland, Napier, Palmerston North and Wellington are an excellent opportunity for all timetablers to meet and discuss how best to implement their school timetable.

Timetable Suite Introduction

Overview:   

This half day seminar will focus solely on using Timetable Assistant to create a timetable and then using the Timetable Editor to make final adjustments. By the end of this seminar, attendees should have a much better understanding of how to put a timetable together. They will have knowledge of the various tools available within MUSAC Timetable Suite to make the job of timetabling easier.

Features:   

Participants will be shown the following:

  • Enter students’ options and inputting staff requests
  • Create an option structure within school constraints
  • Fine tuning using the available utilities (e.g. What If? and Who Else?)
  • Entering core subjects
  • Dealing with room clashes
  • Entering multi-level subjects
  • Timetabling shared classes
  • Adding other classes (e.g. sports, library, admin)
  • Displaying the final product

Timetable Suite Practical Hands-on

Overview:   

This full day practical course will give participants the opportunity to use the various tools that are available within the MUSAC Timetable Suite.

Features:   

Participants will work through a series of exercises with real data to improve their timetabling skills.
The first part of this course will focus on using real data to improve your timetable skills. The exercises will require participants to use the various utilities available in Timetable Assistant to create option lines, and then optimise them. Finally participants will look at using Timetable Editor to enter core classes, check and solve room clashes, enter multi-level subjects and shared classes.

The second part course will first look at the features available in Quickfind. Participants will improve their skills in using Quickfind to find Student and Teacher information. They will practice using the ‘select’ function to filter for groups of students, print various lists including enhanced student lists, tag students and save tagged lists. Then they will look at using the ‘select’ function to find information concerning teachers, e.g. who has the most teaching periods, which teachers are in the English department etc.

School’s first registration: $300 + GST. Morning tea and lunch is included. Additional registrations from the same school are $220 + GST, per person.

Requirements:   

Participants will need to bring their own laptop with the latest MUSAC System 32 files preloaded. The timetable software and data will be provided.
